Hindu groups call for Patiala bandh after Khalistani supporters attack against Kali Temple: FIR against Khalistanis
Hindu groups have called for Patiala bandh and are demanding the arrest of Khalistani supporters who attacked the Kali Mata temple on Friday. According to reports, the situation in Patiala is tense after an armed Khalistani mob attacked a Hindu temple and terrorized the city with swords. Hindu organizations have called for a bandh in response to the attacks on Hindu temples.
In the wake of the shutdown, district authorities have imposed an 11-hour curfew in Patiala and suspended mobile internet service. According to the government order, all mobile internet and SMS services will be closed from 9.30 am to 6.00 pm. The Punjab government has also removed Patiala Inspector General of Police Rakesh Agarwal from his post. The Punjab government has also ordered the transfer of SSP and SP of Patiala.
Earlier on Friday, Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) leader Harish Singla was arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with the violence. Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) is the Punjab unit of Shiv Sena, a regional party in Maharashtra. Harish Singla, who claimed to be the working president of the Punjab unit of the army, had said that the party had launched an anti-Khalistan front which was attacked by Khalistan supporters and supporters. After these attacks Shiv Sena expelled Harish Singla.
Meanwhile, media reports have claimed that some Hindu organizations are angry with Singla and have called for a bandh against him. However, Hindu organizations have now made it clear that they are not against Singla but against Khalistan supporters, saying the bandh was called to protest the actions of Khalistan supporters.
Mahant Ravi Kumar Muni of Kali Mata Mandir in Patiala said that he was not against Singla and the Shiv Sena leader could have protested differently against Khalistanis. The Mahant said that Khalistan supporters should not have attacked the Kali Mata temple.
Mahant Ravikumar Muni said, "The bandh has been called to demand action against those who attacked the Kali temple."
Mahant Ravi Kumar Muni of Patiala's Kali Mata Mandir said that the media reports against Singla are not correct. "Some people are angry with Singla as the temple was attacked because of his protest, otherwise they see him as part of the Hindu community," Mahant said.
"Harish Singh belongs to Patiala, he is ours. However, it is dangerous to blame the entire society for one's actions. It was not right for Harish Singh, but those who attacked the temple are also guilty. The temple has not blamed anyone. I did not talk, but why was the temple attacked? Mahant Ravi expressed his displeasure over the attack on the temple.
Rajesh Khehar has also lodged an FIR against the attack at Patiala police station. Khehar said in his complaint that around noon on Friday, a pro-Khalistan mob had gathered and a group of 40-50 attackers started shouting Khalistan Zindabad slogans outside the temple and pelted stones.
